AMERICAN GOTHIC REVIVAL SERVER

Circa 1875.  Monumental American Victorian sideboard of exceptional quality and condition. This fine piece of 19th century furniture is made entirely of solid American Black Walnut and burl. The influence is Gothic Revival, especially the pierce carved front and side elements and the turned front columns. The top section has a large rectangular, beveled mirror and two lower flanking beveled mirrors. There is a shaped shelf above the smaller mirrors with a raised panel of "book-marked" walnut burl between. The crown is a panel of spindles and pierce carvings, surrounding another shelf. Below the figured brown "Tennessee" marble are four drawers with matched burl and below the drawers are two large, heavily carved doors. The interior of each section is divided by a shelf. Everything about this buffet is original and of the highest quality. Original brass hardware, beveled mirrors, casters and marble, not to mention nearly pristine original finish. The piece retains one original velvet lined silver drawer. Beautiful from any angle. 24" deep x 60" wide x  85" tall.  Price $4,800.
