JELLIFF ARMCHAIR

VICTORIAN ARM CHAIR JOHN JELLIFF NEWARK N.J. Fresh from a local home, passed down in one family is this fine example of American Renaissance Revival seating by the museum quality maker, John Jelliff ( the last photo is of an extremely similar chair currently on view at the Brooklyn Museum). All original, American black walnut and burl, featuring the finely carved women that Jelliff is most known for, turned legs and incised details..The upholstry is very old, possibly original, totally usable as is. It is uniformly faded, soft green with matching gimp and quite comfortable. The chair also retains all four of its original brass casters in good condition. We have lightly cleaned the fine original finish and retacked the fabric under the seat. The frame is in very good antique condition with only minor defects along the edges.  Circa 1875. 41" H X 28" W X 30" D.  Price $1500.00
