EGYPTIAN REVIVAL WINDOW VALANCES

Circa 1870.  Rare set of Egyptian Revival, Victorian antique window valances. This unusual, one of a kind, three piece set, consists of real gold gilded and faux finished wood moldings and fabric hangings. The fabric appears to be wool felt, in a medium mustard color, which has been hand embroidered with flowers and flourishes.  Originally, there was a fringe in maroon wool with wood oval balls that had been wrapped in a bright gold thread. The fringe is mostly missing from two of the three valances and in rough condition on the third. All the fringe is easily removable and replaceable. We have left these rare pieces in "as found" condition so that they could be restored authentically if desired. All the felt and embroidery is in good condition, I have only lightly vacuumed them to remove dust. The wood moldings are in good condition and the longest and shortest valances are bright gold with burled "walnut" centers and the medium sized valance is bright gold with a red center.  The long valance is 74" wide with 34" long hanging fabric (without fringe) x 3 1/2" tall and deep wood molding. The medium (red) valance is 58 1/8" wide with 36 1/2" long fabric (without fringe) x 3 1/2" tall and deep molding.  The shortest valance (also walnut) is 49 1/4" wide with 36 1/2" long fabric (without fringe) x 3 1/2" tall and deep molding.   Price for the set, "as is "$1600.00
