ORIENTALIST WATER COLOR

Orientalist Original Water Color Painting.  Circa 1880.  This bright, beautiful painting features a Classical interior scene of a young man in a toga, seated on a bench, painting a large ceramic vessel.  In the doorway of the room is a lovely young women, leaning on the door frame with one hand on her face, staring at the young man intently as he works.  The room appears to be in a small, ancient hut and the out doors can be seen through the door way. There are other, un-painted vessels lined up in the room.  This fine art work has bold clear colors and looks to have been painted by a very skilled, professional hand.  The original frame is a bright gold, with a fine duller gold ornate trim.  The painting is framed under glass and is in excellent condition as is the frame.  Un-signed.  24 1/2" x 18 3/4" over-all, the painting is 17 1/4" x 11 1/2".  Price $675.00
