VICTORIAN AESTHETIC MOVEMENT TABLE

Circa 1880.  Victorian Aesthetic Movement inlaid parlor table.  This fine table is an excellent example of 19th century "Modern Gothic" ( Eastlake) in a pure form with a deep heavy crenellated apron, Egyptian style legs, turned columns and finials.  Both the top and base have inset marquetry inlaid panels, the top one is a left and right facing Sphinx holding up a table filled with musical instruments all surrounded by a large elaborate decorative inlay.  The inlay is in an ebonized panel and that panel is set in a burled top with incising at the corners.  The smaller lower shelf is also inlaid on an ebonized panel, featuring a page of sheet music, instruments and flowers.  All original in good over-all condition, with a small amount of gilding still visible in the incised detail.  Re-polished.  30" tall x 33" x 24" top.   Price $ 4,600.00
