ANTIQUE ARMOIRES,
CABINETS & etageres
Circa 1875. Rare, all original Renaissance Revival corner cabinet. Handsome American Black Walnut and burl, with all the detail one expects from the high style parlor furniture of this period, which I strongly suspect is by the well known 19th century Brooklyn cabinet maker, Thomas Brooks. This tall and elegant cupboard has one large glass door over a solid bottom cabinet with two doors and a frieze drawer. The doors of the lower cabinet are covered in beautifully matched and decorative burled walnut veneers, as are the drawer face and tapered flanking columns. The upper cabinet has a large, proud center cartouche and many decorative elements some of which are also covered in dramatic burled walnut veneers, too many to describe accurately but all shown in our pictures. The upper cabinet has two original walnut shelves and the lower cabinet one original shelf. Everything on this piece of fine furniture is present and all in very good original condition. We have re-glued, cleaned and polished the entire cupboard and restored the original locks to good working condition. The glass is also original. This cabinet comes apart for easy moving. A truly rare find in American Victorian furniture 92" tall x 44 1/2" wide x 32" deep. Price $9,800.
