Antique hallstands & mirrors
Circa 1800. American Federal period mirror. One of a kind, featuring a Classically styled frieze of a chariot full of Roman soldiers pulled by four chained lions. Above the chariot are winged angels blowing trumpets. In front of the chariot are three figures in Roman dress. The chains on the chariot are actual, three dimensional chains. On either side of the frieze are very ornate Roman capitals on fluted columns. The proud crown is decorated with gilded balls. Three antique beveled mirrors are probably 100 year old replacements of the original glass which would have been flat. Regilded and ready to hand above a fireplace or sideboard. Fine condition. 58" wide x 35 1/2" tall. Price $7,500.
