Circa 1885.  Extraordinary Aesthetic Movement brass table lamp. This large, fine 19th century lamp was originally oil. The large pierced brass shade features panels with wolves and eagles. The base has standing gryphons flanking a shield and lion heads with rings through their mouths. The base of the lamp has vaguely Egyptian looking claw feet. The overall look of this striking light is Asian yet the motifs are all European. The lamp originally had panels of fabric or glass on the inside of the shade which could be replaced but shows very well the way it is. Very good condition with a deep original patina. Re-wired.  26" tall x 18 1/2" diameter.  Price $1,200 as shown.
