MANTLES & FIREPLACE ACCESSORIES

Circa 1900.  Fabulous French brass fireplace insert/cover.  Inherited from an estate in the south of France, I have never seen anything like this.  Beautifully cast flowers and wreaths surround glass knobs that must have been used to move it when it was warm and ornate cast back-plates with curved arms for the fireplace tools are both gorgeous and practical.  The "horseshoe" opening has a flared bottom with an Art Nouveau feel. The keystone of the arch is a foliate crest with egg and dart molding along the inner and outer curves of the arch.  Good "as found" condition with a small repair to  the left side curved tool holder.    33" tall x 37" wide, overall.  Arch size 21"tall x 16" wide.  Price $1400.00
