Circa 1870.  Rare, French, "Grand Tour" souvenir,  Mother of Pearl, bronze, glass and brass inkwell in the form of a boat.  Substantially sized, all clad in original, fine condition MOP, finished with a bronze railing and pen holder.  Each end of the boat or gondola is also finished in bronze with a delicate flourish at each point.  The glass and brass inkwell is not removable and has a domed and fluted hinged cover. Good original condition with waviness to the top rail. The hinge is in good working order but the lid sits slightly ajar.  The pen is a good match but not original. Marked "Cherbourg" on the deck. Wood bottom. 7 1/2" wide x 3" tall x 2 3/4" deep.  Price $595.00
