Circa 1890.  Rare Victorian Aesthetic Movement, figural dog candle sticks.  Unusual pair featuring three dogs, probably Whippets, sitting in a circle around a tree trunk.  Each dog is nicely detailed with curled tails, long sinuous legs and intelligent faces. The cast brass bobeche look like lily pads with tiny acorns in between.  The brass base is also a leafy design. This pair of candle holders are extraordinarily heavy for their size which makes me think the cast white metal is lead.  "As found" condition with a stable hair-line in one trunk and made washers replacing the missing originals on the base.  Very solid usable condition. 5 1/8" tall x 2 5/8" base diameter".  Price $275.00
