Circa 1890.  Late Victorian expandable book rack. This unusual book holder features a Classical motif of a Roman chariot driven by a Classically dressed man.  The detail is very fine as is the original "bronze" finish. The chariot is framed within a handsome openwork design.  Solid cast brass with good original "bronzed" finish. Very minor wear to the finish at the edges. Good working condition.   8 1/2" x 6" closed, expands to 15".  Price  $185.
