Early 19th century.  Oil on board, painting of a Classical Mythological scene.  A young partially nude female figure is being leered at and leaned over, by a bearded  young man.  She seems to be trying to fend him off.  There are several other figure in the painting, a scared or angry man with a snake, a Putti-like child and a small barking dog defending the women.  The painting is done in bright, bold colors and exudes a feeling of emotion and movement that is hard to ignore.  Artist signed, J. Alt, probably German.  Newer gold painted frame that works well with this painting.  Small flecks of missing paint and some faint scratches.  27" high x 31" wide over all, painting is 20" x  23 3/4".  Price $1200.
