Circa 1860. Unusual oil painting on glass.  This Renaissance themed painting, depicts two boys sitting on a bed huddled over an open book.  Something seems to have distracted them, as they are both looking or listening to something not in the picture.  There is  a small dog in the room who is also staring at a closed door.  The boys are very richly dressed and the room is very luxurious.  The scene appears to be 17th century.  The deep walnut frame is circa 1860.  The painting has some loss especially on the floor.  the frame is in good original condition.   14 3/4 "wide x 12 1/2" tall over-all,  painting alone is 12" x 10".  Price $350.
