ANTIQUE PAINTINGS, prints & FRAMES

Circa 1910.  Fine oil on panel painting by the listed Jewish artist Daniel Albert Wehrschmidt (1861-1932), who was born in Ohio but moved to England in his 20's and exhibited his paintings at the Royal Academy in London between 1886-1893. He Anglicized his name around the First World War to Veresmith.  This painting has a dedication by the artist on the back, the name of the subject, Friston Church Sussex and the 1910 date.  This artist is listed in The Smithsonian Libraries Collection and in the Who's Who in American Art. The painting is in good condition but would benefit from a professional cleaning. We have re-framed it in a circa 1870, rosewood grain-painted and gilded frame which we think suits it well.   9 3/8" wide x 6" tall, painting, 11 3/8" x 8" framed.   Price $425.
