ANTIQUE TABLES
Circa 1850. American Empire/Classical round banquet table in solid mahogany. This large, fine dining table's pedestal base is one I have not seen before. It works much the same way as a more conventional split pedestal base, but this one consists of two heavily acanthus carved columns on four well carved claw feet. When the pedestal is split to add the leaves, the effect is that the table appears to be double pedestal ( in the 18thc formal style). This gives the open table a much more formal, polished feel than the usual split pedestal tables of this era. Exceptionally beautifully grained, solid top with a heavily carved edge. Four large, well matched custom leaves with carved edges and matching aprons. Very fine refinished condition. Original casters. 54" diameter x 30 1/2" tall, closed. Two 15" leaves+ two 13" leaves. Over-all length, 110". Price $ 9800.00
