Circa 1830-40. Exceptional, Period American Empire work stand. This distinctive work table is the largest we have ever owned, it's grander than usual scale making it perfect for a larger room or to fit with other bigger than usual furniture. The piece itself is of very high quality with beautiful mahogany throughout and a superbly carved acanthus leaf and claw foot pedestal base. The cabinet consists of two lower drawers with fine original ornate cast brass hardware and a top "desk" drawer that contains a lift and tilt writing surface and ink and pen compartments. This fine piece of early 19th century American furniture is totally free standing, finished all the way around with the same highly figured mahogany. It is in very fine, mostly original condition with light cleaning and polishing and only minor repairs to the veneer. Original casters and locks with a working key. Height 31 1/2" x 20 3/4" deep x 22 3/4" wide. Price $2800.
